Deterrents don't work!

How do we know, easy! We get the jobs when deterrents fail. Don’t believe us; Read On!

Deterrents Don't Work

If you took the time to read our home page you will know about Nigel’s $12K+ disaster to get rid of his 12 resident pigeons. Nigel paid one of SA’s well known and respected pest control company’s to undertake trapping for a few months, then had them install exclusion barriers to his solar panels and then provide a gratis shoot! Only to be left with 12 resident pigeons.

The culmination of that story was Nigel choosing 10 x 15-minute shoots, with a minimum of 3 chargeable shoots. Nigel paid us for 3 shoots! We have only conducted 2 shoots and have not had to return to date. We became involved February 2018!

Trapping Works

Trapping is not a deterrent, trapping is a lethal option or at least it should be. And yes, trapping does work. But it has to be applied to the right scenario. A domestic home where the pigeons are breeding under the solar panels is not such a scenario.

Netting Doesn’t Work

How do we know, simple, we shoot the pigeons sitting on the netting. Netting like all deterrents only moves the problem. And in many cases it means you now have the problem of getting under the netting to clean the detritus left by the birds and what the wind blows in i.e. leaves, paper, dirt etc. We took this shot from a mobile phone, so the image isn’t great, but we’re sure you get the picture! Oh and if it doesn’t jump out at you; it’s just plain ugggglyyyy!

Exclusion Barriers Don’t Work

How do we know, simple, we shoot the pigeons sitting on the solar panels that have had the exclusion barrier installed! And like all deterrents at best you’re only moving the problem and often only as far as the top of the solar panel where the wire barrier meets the panel. Pigeons start nesting on the high side of the solar panels where the wire barrier serves to stop the nesting material slide under the solar panels. Grrrr I hear you say! Because you’ve just had the exclusion barrier installed and still have a pigeon problem and have only now found this page. The only consolation we can offer is to tell you that you’re not alone! Again the image below was taken from our mobile phone and you can’t see the exclusion barrier surrounding the solar panels. If we ever have to go back we will try to take a close up picture of the exclusion barrier. Ohh and this isn’t Nigel’s house.

Removing Solar Panels Doesn’t work either. We have had a few customers try that; only to learn the pigeons don’t move far.

Fake Owls Don’t Work

Let’s face it; you didn’t really expect this to work, but it was cheap and worth a try! We get it, but save yourself the trouble, it simply doesn’t work! Sure, for a few days the pigeons are freaked out, but it doesn’t take them long to learn the owl is just a plastic perch!

Spikes Don’t Work!

How do we know, simple, we shoot the pigeons sitting behind or around the spikes that have been installed! And like all deterrents the best you can hope for is moving the problem and often with spikes they become part of the nesting material. They act like scaffold upon which the pigeons can secure their nests. Don’t believe us, pop into the Adelaide Post Office and have a look for yourselves. Oh and if it doesn’t jump out at you; it’s just plain ugggglyyyy!
